Where to get your bottles refilled and/or exchanged

There are a few options as follows:

Camping Gaz

Handy Hint
If you own gas bottles that look like the Camping Gaz bottles, but from a different manufacturer, you can give them a clean and a coat of blue paint (closest in colour to the Camping Gaz blue) from a rattle can spray and you may be able to pass them off as Camping Gaz, on exchange.

Repsol

The Repsol filling station on the Avenida sometimes stocks Camping Gaz. Over the foot bridge, turn left and it is on your right just past the supermarket.

Non Standard Gas Bottles

If you wish to refill your favorite gas bottles that you cannot exchange at the usual gas outlets, there is Autocrew - C.M Pedro's in Boliquieime. It is a car drive away, but there are a few caveats:

1. Technically it is illegal to transport LPG tanks in a car, in Portugal. If you just have a single tank in your car and you get stopped, you can probably get away with it. But if you get together with a few others and take a number of tanks in one car, then you may get in trouble if you get stopped by the Police.
2. We have had a report saying that C.M. Pedro's tend to overfill the tanks. You may need to check the weight of your tank before and after, and release off any excess gas.
3. Lagos Navigators cannot be held responsible if you get fined by the police!
